Happy 1st anniversary, #smmeasure
Published on August 4th, 2011 by Nick Shin

It was one year ago last Thursday, July 28, 2011 that the #smmeasure Twitter chat, which focuses on social media measurement and analytics, was born. The combined efforts (and expertise) of Marketwire and Sysomos allowed us to start a chat to discuss one of the biggest concerns for social media professionals: How to measure the success of social media.
In the first full year of #smmeasure, the chat garnered over 13,000 mentions. Not bad for a niche social media chat.

My hat goes off to my weekly co-host, Sheldon Levine, the community manager for Sysomos, for helping me come up with topics and questions. A big thank-you to everyone who joined us since the first #smmeasure Twitter chat as well as those who helped spread the word and made it one of the most passionate, close-knit and smartest group of professionals in the Twitterverse. We also appreciate the other social media-focused Twitter chats and their participants for showing #smmeasure love.
The #smmeasure Twitter chat takes place every Thursday for one hour, starting at 9 am PST/12 noon EST and anyone is more than welcome to join us. All topics and questions are posted on the LinkedIn #smmeasure group and the Marketwire Facebook page the Wednesday before the chat. If you have any questions or topics of interest, you know how to reach me.
Here’s to another great year. Cheers!
